Dancing in glee inside

They say there is a silver lining to everything and I ABSOLUTELY believe that.

Due to the recent unrest and such, looks like we may have to postpone the upcoming torture session I was about to be subjected to.

Wahahahaahahahaha...

Thank God for terrorists.

Thank God for crazy people staking out airports.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I know, it's a postponement but heck, I am happy that it is postponed okay? At least more time to prepare myself for the stressful torture session.

Now I can only hope that the airline that lets everyone fly will let us change the destination and the flight to a LATER DATE.

Like 100 years from now.

Don't care if it means I lost some $$ since the airtickets are paid.

My sanity is worth more than those measly few hundred $$.

Sigh. Just hope that if can change destination, it's somewhere we DON'T NEED TO share rooms. Otherwise, I may just be the crazy person staking out some airport demanding for my OWN ROOM!

Wednesday

An upcoming torture session

It's the first time in my life that I dread a holiday in a foreign land.

It is bad enough that she has to come along with us but to share the same hotel room? GAWD. Kill me please.

It would have been more humane to just shoot me. Or dig my heart out with a blunt fork. It would have been infinitely less painful than this upcoming torture session I will be subject to.

Why me? Why? Why? Why?

I'll probably come back more frazzled and stressed up than before we go. And the thing is, it is still about 3 months away but I am getting all stressed up about it now already.

Torture.

Torture.

Damn torture.

Dammit.

This bloody effing sucks.

Not that I have anything against her personally or anything.

It is just that I can't stand hypocrites and I have to become one when around her.

I have to act all bloody fu*king nice and sweet and all that crap which I AM NOT. I have and always been a real bit*h and yes, I speak my mind frankly, bluntly and regardless of anything or anyone.

And if I am not nice to her, I get all sorts of flak which I do not need. I get all sorts of even more stressful situations. And worse, I ended up being the EVIL Queen of the earth for being so uncaring, unloving, disrespectful, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah.

Respect is EARNED not freely given. So, SORRY, I do not deal out my respect generously just because of your station in life or who you are. You can be the King and if I feel you don't deserve my respect, I won't respect you. That's it. Period.

But then so many people just don't understand this. Well, screw them. I don't effing care.

Sometimes I just wish I'm dead. No need to deal with all these tricky human emotions.

*note: this is not a suicidal post altho it may sound like it. Just really craving the oblivion of death compared to the torture session coming up*

Show cause letter, whose fault?

Once again, the idiots whom I shall not name have wielded their 'power' to issue a 'shut up or else we will shut you down' letter to our paper.

And the worst part is, there is no explanation of which article had offended their 'delicate' senses or what we did wrong.

Obviously we did one MAJOR mistake. Reporting the truth. Telling it as it is. That is the BIG, HUGE mistake we did. We failed to conform. We should have blended in with the other MSM of kow towing and bowing down to those idiots but we did not.

After all, we have principles. But I guess, with priniciples, it comes with a price. We get threaten of having our licences withdrawn. Of losing our jobs.

All just because we told the truth.

We all know freedom of press and freedom of speech in Malaysia is as good as DEAD. You say anything they don't like, be prepared for the consequences.

It is always YOUR fault, not theirs.

So, they could be racist but it is YOUR fault if you report it.

So, they could be corrupted but it is YOUR fault if you reveal the truth.

So, they could be nothing but a bunch of idiots but still it is YOUR fault if you fail to make them look intelligent and great.

Sure, there are no such thing as freedom of speech or press anywhere else in the world but at least in some places, the worst that could have happened is a legal suit. With legal suits, you are at least assured of a fair trial in court.

But here, there is no such thing. You get a letter and you have to explain. If you failed to explain, then, sorry, there goes your rice bowl. Where is the justice in that?

Oh, yeah, there is no justice in Malaysia. I blame the idiots for this. And though there are people who thinks we brought it into ourselves, I pity people like these. Their minds are so narrow, not even pin can pass through.

They seem to think that those idiots are probably the best thing on earth since sliced bread. They think that it is wrong for us NOT to put those idiots on a pedestal and 'worship' every move they make like some MSM.

Seriously. These people are worse than retarded. They have no senses anymore.

Of course there are also people who blamed the editorial for putting the jobs of others in the company on the line for being too daring. Well, I feel like knocking people like that on their heads.

So, are they saying it is ALWAYS the victim's fault whenever a crime happens and never the perpetrator's fault? We are really the victims of idiots behind the show cause letter, so why is it our fault again?

Oh, well. I guess it is really pointless arguing with peabrain people like that. Now, let's hope the stupid idiots will not try to show their supreme greatness by revoking the great licence just to teach the paper a lesson.

This is what I call absolute abuse of power. And people wonder why so many people are rooting for the Opposition nowadays. Well...duh...

I don't care that you know my boss

If anything, I hate all those name droppers at assignments. I find it damn irritating when they come up to me and go:

"I know your boss **insert appropriate name**. So, how is he?"

and then expect me to kow-tow to him simply because he happens to be buddy buddy with my boss. Of course, this sentence is usually said with the tone to mean that 'you better write good things about my function or else...'

Well, who the blardy hell cares?

So what if you know my boss?

Hell, even if you are sleeping with my boss and sucking his balls all the time, I don't blardy well care, okay?

I am not in the least impressed. In fact, I am probably more than a bit annoyed and irritated. It made me want to walk out and leave the blardy function.

Name droppers sucks.

Next time you are thinking of boosting your so-called importance to journalists by dropping names. Don't do it in front of me. I may well just decide to be brutally honest about your stupid, boring, worse than watching paint dry function.

I am a journalist, so what?

I don't understand this awe people have with journalists.

Look here. We are humans too. We are pushing pen over paper and stringing words together to form articles all for the sake of earning a living.

There is NOTHING glamourous about being journalists. Please get rid of this stupid misconception.

What is so glamourous having to interview irritating, snobbish idiots day in day out?

What is so glamourous about having to write things that we know are not the truth but still are forced to do it due to 'control' by the powers that be?

What is so glamourous about chasing after oily, slimy, lying politicians for a story only to get pushed and told off by burly bodyguards?

Indeed, what the hell is so glamourous about having to work at odd hours, hound unwilling interviewees and produce articles on tight deadlines on a daily basis?

And I've not even started on all the backstabbing, politicking and whatnots that goes on in the editorial departments of many large media corporations.

Also, don't forget the tight leash we are placed under and the rule that we are not supposed to practice press freedom at all in this country.

We see injustices but we are not allowed to report or else risk losing our job. Then we get blamed by the people for misreporting the truth.

That's glamourous?

You try earning peanuts reporting falsehoods because it's your rice bowl and you tell me whether it's glamourous or not.

A breath of fresh air

I know I have neglected this blog for almost three months as I have been sort of preoccupied and busy the past few months.

The general election, as we all know, brought us some very surprising turn of events especially for Selangor, Perak, Kedah and my kampung Penang. Many sceptics are doubtful about having the Opposition parties as a government while there are many who are just afraid of change.

Well, I personally was a bit sceptical about having an Opposition state government but after a few days of thinking about it (and talking to some of the newly elected reps), I guess a change in the state government isn't so bad after all.

I mean, the way the old BN government has been running things for so long isn't all that great to start with. So, how badly is the DAP-PKR government going to screw up an already screwed administration? Not much, I would say. Granted, it wasn't all that bad with the BN's administration but it wasn't all rosy and good either. But it was screwed up, to the extent that everyone decided to literally boot them (more like vote) out of the administration.

Having known some of the voted out BN reps personally due to the nature of my work, I could say that I do feel for the few good ones who really could work and have a proven track record. However, I sure am glad that the bad apples were also thrown out. It is only too bad that the few good ones were also thrown out with the whole basket.

So far, there has been mixed reactions from friends and family alike. Many are glad that BN was taught a hard lesson that they should never be so complacent to the point that they get a hard kick on their asses. While some are worried about the impact of such a monumental change. The questions that popped into mind are whether it would affect the state's economy and whether it would cause a massive exodus of investors.

While these worries are valid, they should give the new state government a chance. Remember the lesson behind the bestseller 'Who moved my cheese?'. Change isn't always bad. Sometimes it is even good. So, why not just wait and see how these new elected reps fulfill their elections promises? Why not just give them a chance? They may be new at running a state government but someone has to start somewhere and aren't we all new at something at some point in our lives?

True, any mistakes they make may be costly but I am sure they know full well the heavy responsibility that was laid on their shoulders. They will probably do everything within their abilities to ensure they do things right. After all, they were given such a huge mandate. They had to ensure that they do deliver or face an angry mob of voters!

I am by no means a DAP or PKR supporter. Nor am I a BN supporter. I have never liked the dirtiness of politics regardless of which party it is. It is due to my profession that I was thrown into the whirlwind of political events. So, I am more of an observer than anything else.

Being an observer, I do feel they deserve to be given a fair chance. Four or five years will probably fly by in a hurry but in that period, if they do fail in anyway or perform worse than the BN government, you can always correct the situation through the ballots. For now, just watch, listen and take notes.

Change may be good after all. It may just be the breath of fresh air we all so badly needed after 50 years of BN domination!
